Be Grateful

“Smile, breathe and go slowly.” —- Thich Nhat Hanh

Here are a couple of blog posts I read this week that I’d like to share with you:

Improve Every Moment, Leo Babauta

5 Practical Tips for Living in a State of Inner Peace, Evita Ochel

I also stumbled across a new blog to me that is called “Hope Heals.” It is Kathryn Wolf’s story of being normal one day only to wake up paralyzed and unable to walk, talk, or feel the right half of her body after having a massive brain stem stroke. She is my age.

Her story is amazing and her ability to stay positive and upbeat is remarkably inspiring. But she also talks about her rough days and her imperfections, so you don’t get the impression that she is not “real” or is only telling half the story.

I cried as I read her posts, and then I looked at my own life and reminded myself how lucky I should feel each day to not be going through something like that.

I love her “Point of Gratitude” in her blogs where she mentions something she is grateful for, even if everything else is seems to be very hard. One of her points of gratitude was PAIN. The ability to feel pain. Can you believe that? Because she said feeling pain in her mouth is better than feeling nothing at all.

My point of gratitude today: I am lucky for my health. I can’t remember the last time I was really sick, however I have had other periods in life where my health suddenly wasn’t such a sure thing anymore, and suddenly I was wishing for something that I take for granted every other day of your life. So today it’s health.

What are you grateful for?
